Policy for children and young people with SEND in youth custody (Mar 2024)

The Youth Justice Service and the Special Educational Needs (SEN) Services have worked jointly to produce this document for the Bi-Borough (Westminster City Council and Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea).

The idea of joint working is to support those children and young people who may enter the custodial system with or without an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and to advise as to the support that can be provided to the child/young person. This policy reflects the guidance as detailed within the SEND Code of Practice 2015 and will be reviewed on an annual basis by the relevant services.
