Community nurseries

Community nurseries are non-profit-making organisations, often with charitable status, run by voluntary management committees, which may or may not include the parents of children attending.

These provide early education and childcare to children from 2- to 5-year-old, and normally offer full and part-time early years education places, typically between school hours, so children can attend for a full or half day.

Community nurseries follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and are registered with and inspected by Ofsted.
