Winners of the Local Offer Art Competition

A picture showing the three art competition winners, Nico, Zainab and Halima.

We had over forty spectacular entries as part of our Local Offer Art Competition for children and young people with SEND that ran earlier this year. The creativity and artistic skill on display was astounding and it proved very difficult for our judges to select just one winner and runner-up for each of the three age categories (Age 5-7; 8-11; 12-15).

Participants in the competition were asked to create artwork that corresponded to one of the following 8 themes:

  • Keeping myself healthy
  • My day at school / nursery
  • What I like to do in my spare time
  • My family / friends
  • What I want to be when I grow up
  • Where I would like to live
  • Looking after baby / childcare
  • Managing money

But children and young people were encouraged to be as creative as they liked, and to use any materials and styles they wished.

The purpose of the competition was both to celebrate the talents of children and young people with SEND living in the Bi-borough, and also to help brighten up the Local Offer website with fun and engaging pictures.

After some very tough judging decisions, we are very pleased to announce the following winners of the Local Offer Art Competition 2019:

Category 1: Ages 5-7 Years

Winner: Nico Clode, aged 5

Runner-Up: Aurora Moon, aged 7

Category 2: Ages 8-11 Years

Winner: Halima

Runner-Up: Cezar

Category 3: Ages 12-15 Years

Runner-Up: Yusef Rahman

Many congratulations to the winners who will be receiving art-related prizes to help them continue their budding artistic careers. Everybody who entered the competition will also receive a well-deserved certificate to recognise their incredible efforts.
