The borough has some of the highest performing maintained schools in the country. The outcomes for pupils with SEND are better here than the national average. The Ofsted ratings of our local schools mean that families are assured of a school that is rated good or outstanding.
The Local Authority will always aim to place children and young people living in the Borough in local schools. This is because only if children and young people are placed in local maintained schools can we ensure the quality of support they receive.
We acknowledge, however, that when searching for the right school for their child, some parents would like information on out-of-borough schools. The list below links you to the Local Offers of our neighbouring boroughs where you can review the information they have available about schools in their local areas.
You should note that, by making a decision to place your child in an out-of-borough school, you may become ineligible for other statutory support services from the Local Authority including help with transport to and from school.
You may also find it useful to review the Government list of Approved Special Schools which provides details of special schools across the UK.
