Golden Girls support group

Golden Girls

Golden girls is the name of an online support group for girls aged 12-18 recently launched in our Early Help, Intensive Support Team.

This resource was developed in response to understanding that many young people were feeling isolated and lonely in this lockdown, especially those whose main social contact has been at school.

The girls came up with the name Golden Girls, the group has developed into a space where teenage girls can talk about their emotional well-being, mental health, the stresses of lockdown and life in general and share experiences of how they are managing. The feedback from the last group was really positive and the girls shared they had learnt to “always be open and always talk to other people when you feel sad” and “to not judge anyone”.

The team will be using Zoom for the next group and this will be starting on Thursday 18th March from 4:30-5:30pm.

The team are keen to extend this broader than Early Help and IST, so if you are working with a young woman under 18 who you think may benefit, fill in the referral form attached and the team will follow up with an introductory conversation. Referrals will close on Monday 15th March.

Please return the referral form to deyre@westminster.gov.uk or feel free to call her on 07971092521 or teams for more information.
