Your feedback, and our responses, about the SEND Local Offer 2017Last Updated 05/09/2019
Every year, the local authority publishes feedback from users of our SEND Local Offer website. We also set out how we have addressed, or plan to address, the issues raised. All feedback we receive is used to make the website more helpful and easy to use.
The following comments reflect the feedback given by young people with SEND and their families during the year 2016-17.

We have included prominent visual icons to link to social media (Instagram, Twitter and Facebook) being used by individual service providers
Additional photos have been added to some landing pages and we are working with services to encourage them to provide photos to accompany their information.
In addition to adding photos to information pages and service records, we have added the ability to embed YouTube videos and Vimeo videos on to advice pages and service pages.
With a focus on Plain English we are looking to reduce long sections of text, break them up with images or replace lengthy sections with accessible videos.
"Include service information to inform whether car parking is available, if wheelchair access is available, etc."
Your can narrow your search results on the Local Offer website using filters relating to specific accessibility requirements. On the results page, select which options you require and the results will update.
This information is also represented by visual icons that appear on the search results pages and on the individual service record page. These icons serve as a visual aid to help navigate the website and were designed in partnership with the help of parent carers and young people with SEND.
Please note, we are currently working with all services that are published on the Local Offer to obtain this additional, detailed information about how accessible their services are. If you are interested in accessing a service that does not match your chosen filters, please check with the service provider directly to discuss your needs.
All service providers are asked for their service opening hours and also the times of when they are contactable.
We will identify gaps and follow up with service providers directly to add missing information.
We will look to expand on information intended to help young people travel independently, access local services and increase their knowledge of local transport options.
We will be enhancing our Preparing for Adulthood section to include more learning, volunteering and employment opportunities for young people and will work with key stakeholders to develop this area.
We want to see... "More safety information, like safety in the home, and more videos from other sites incorporated on to the Local Offer site"
We will actively listen to requests from our users and identify external content that be shared or signposted to, where of interest or benefit to our young people with SEND.
Address details will be added to search result listings. Search results can also be viewed on an interactive map.
The option for selecting Standard size text on the Accessibility page has been changed to 'Standard 100%' to relfect the size difference between the three options available.
The Accessibility options allow you to change the format of the website, based on your personal needs, to make it easier to use.
We are working with service providers to ensure that we list at least one contact email address for all services listed on the SEND Local Offer website.
We can now also store and display multiple email addresses for individual services.
"Screen reading software would be useful for visual impairment but also for young people with SEND that may find it difficult reading lots of text"
We are looking at potential options that may offer an optional screen reading tool to assist users that may need support in reading text and do not currently have access to a screen reader.
This has been corrected. All search results that are sorted by 'Name' now appear alphabetically, ordered from A to Z as default.
The category image for the 'Preparing for adulthood' section has been updated on the home page (category button) and the 'Preparing for adulthood' landing page to include the changes requested.
A 'Money matters' section has been added to the SEND Local Offer website with a view to helping children/young people with SEND and their families know what finanical support is available to them.
