Instructability - train to be a gym instructor at Kensington Leisure Centre



Are you disabled? Ever thought about being a gym instructor? 


InstructAbility offers free training and qualifications to become a gym instructor for people with a disability who are interested in a career in sport.

Participants will gain a YMCAfit Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification and CPD Module in Function Fitness which will equip them with the skills needed to deliver inclusive exercise classes.

As part of the programme, participants will also undertake a 12-week work placement where they gain experience and work to engage more disabled people in the local community to get physically active.

To take part in the programme you should:

  • have a disability or long term health condition and be currently unemployed
  • be at least 16 years old
  • have gym user experience and be familiar with a range of gym equipment
  • be able to commit to all training and voluntary placements
  • be able to use experience of disability and exercise to engage other disabled people in fitness
