All the staff employed by our community dental service are highly experienced in delivering all aspects of dental care to our special needs patients and those referred to our specialised services. We aim to:

  • provide high quality dental care to all of our patients
  • promote good oral health
  • prevent and treat dental disease
  • see everyone in a timely manner

In addition we can provide:

  • Domiciliary services for those people who are housebound
  • Dental treatment under inhalation sedation for children
  • Dental treatment for adults under sedation

Who is this service available to?

Our community dental service provides care for those patients who live, or are registered with, a GP in Barnet, Hammersmith and Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea, and Westminster and are unable to be treated in an ordinary dental practice.

The following is a summary of our criteria - please note that, due to different commissioning arrangements, there are slight variations in service provision between Barnet and the other inner boroughs.

  • Physical/mobility problems e.g. housebound/ wheelchair bound
  • Learning disabilities
  • Complex medical history where condition or medication compromises oral health
  • Complex medical history where condition/medication necessitates special care prior to/during/post dental treatment e.g. poorly controlled epilepsy, poorly controlled diabetics, cystic fibrosis
  • Management problems/challenging behaviour (details required on the form e.g. autism, ADHD)
  • Children with complex needs (e.g. children at risk)
  • Children with specific dental problems
  • Phobics (not in Barnet)
  • Mental Health problems
How do you access this service?

Patients can be referred by their dentist, GP and other healthcare professional. Patients are unable to self-refer to this service.
