Westminster Learning Disability Partnership is developing local services and new ways of working so that young people with complex needs can get the right support close to home.
The Flexible Response Service is a combined team of skilled support workers from community access Westminster, and clinicians from the Westminster Learning Disability Partnership.
There are some young people who may not be able to participate in traditional services due to their challenging behaviour and/or parent/carer concerns. The Flexible Response Service develops personalised sessions of support for each young person so that they can access activities and services in the community. Outreach models are used which build activities around the person’s interests rather than being day centre based.
The Flexible Response Service supports customers going through transition from childhood into adulthood for instance:
- Changing or leaving school
- Settling into new accommodation or college; or
- With medical investigation and treatment, etc.
