Description
This scheme offers small group swimming lessons for Children & Young People (C&YP) with an Educational and Health Care Plan (EHCP), including Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Down’s Syndrome (DS or DNS), Global Developmental Delay (GDD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Fragile X and Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD), to promote a lifelong participation in sports as a part of a healthy, active lifestyle.
All staff are fully qualified Swim England Level 1 and Level 2 swimming teachers and have extensive experience working with C&YP with an EHCP across various educational and community settings. All staff have knowledge and practice in structured teaching, visual resourcing, intensive interaction, de-escalation and early intervention techniques and strategies, positive handling and challenging behaviour.
Summary
This scheme has been designed to meet the individual needs of C&YP with an EHCP and operates several different frameworks through the Swim England Learn to Swim Pathway. This Pathway consists of the following Frameworks:
- Swim England I CAN Framework
- Swim England Alpha Step (Awards 1 -3) Framework
- Swim England Water Skills (Awards 1-6) Framework
- Swim England Learn to Swim (Stages 1-7) Framework
