I have worked as a self-employed childminder in the Bayswater area for 16 years. It is of the upmost importance to provide a high standard of care while catering for the individual needs of the child and helping to develop their personal interests and skills. I place great emphasis on creativity and children use a variety of resources to create topical artwork. The children enjoy outdoor play in the spacious garden practicing physical skills such as climbing, sliding and ball games and enjoy trying out some yoga and mindfulness.
We regularly attend a local drop in group where the children have the opportunity to take part in drama and music workshops. We also have a music teacher who comes one a week to the setting to sing and play guitar for the children. Children are provided with healthy, nutritious home cooked meals and snacks and I have been awarded a 5-star food hygiene rating.
I have completed extensive training in child protection; first aid; health and safety; child behaviour; EYFS and the stages of child development. I have also completed Montessori training which has helped me to learn simple and effective methods to promote learning and development. I work with an assistant who has training with special needs and child development.
My setting has been awarded a Healthy Early Years London Bronze award.
Working on the premise that each child’s individuality, background and culture is respected and parents’ wishes are adhered to whenever possible is what I believe to be key in ensuring a successful transition into my setting for both parent and child.
