CareTrade
CareTrade is a multi-award winning charity providing innovative opportunities for Londoners with autism to transition from school/college towards and into employment.
In our first 6 years we have supported over 100 individuals from 14 boroughs and have developed four leading employment focused projects.

We are currently running one project aimed at preparing and supporting young people with autism into employment.
The Autism Project is a full time 2 year course; students attend 9am-4pm, Monday to Friday, for 72 weeks. The aim of the course is to help young adults with autism (18-25) prepare for employment by offering work experience placements in a supportive environment at Guy's & St. Thomas' Hospitals.
We also provide in work support (funded by DWP Access to Work) and are officially a City & Guilds Centre. CareTrade successfully applied to be categorised and published, as of 31 August 2016, as a Special post-16 institution on GOV.UK
An application form must be completed (please contact us for one) and if the applicant meets our criteria an interview will be offered.
Places are offered on a conditional basis and will only become unconditional on us receiving funding from the Local Authority

How do you access this service?
We accept referrals from Local Authorities and directly from young people.
Applicants should complete a TAP application form and supply copies of documents as requested including a copy of a current EHCP where applicable. We hold informal interviews with all applicants (who meet our primary criteria) and all suitable applicants are invited to complete a half day assessment and DBS check.
How do we ensure the quality of this service?
All participants are given a baseline assessment when they start with us and progress is assessed at regular intervals. Participants have weekly classroom sessions where they work towards a City and Guilds qualification. This is overseen by our hightly qualified and experienced tutor.
Partiipants are also visited in their work placements by staff and feedback taken from placement mentors. All mentors are trainied before they support a young person with autism.
We are a registered providor for the Department for Work and Pensions.
